Yeah I know! I have several 88' P BU examples to compare it too and this is not the same!

Best pic I could get....wish you guys could see in person.

    I'm going with 1988 DDO FS-101 in MDS-LDS. (Stage B-C)

There's too much doubling in the surrounding hair and all matching die markers to not be a FS-101 in my personal opinion. Guess I won't know til she gets shipped off! Cross your fingers for me.

Just remember, HR , we're not the ones you need to convince. Though we could give you "moral support" , we can't give you a definitive statement or grade on the coin. Only a TPG can give you that.

Please send it off and let us know what you find out.

    Good Luck.

As I stated, I'm not seeing it. Other members have said the same thing so please post the results of the TPG. We are not trying to be mean or nasty but we are only stating what we see, from your photos. You and the TPG have the coin in hand and that can make a difference.

Well I have a feeling it is gonna cost you not learning how to take photos in this case. The cost will be the fees and postage to send in a coin to a TPG for a paid opinion when a decent picture would have you getting the same opinion here for free. I spent 11 dollars on a tripod that holds a cell phone. Focus and lighting are the keys.

It didn't help that I was focusing on the wrong part of the coin to photograph too haha! After matching up exact die scratches to a later M.D.S./Stage B example, AND finally getting the right picture (hopefully), I would have to say this is the real deal. Only time will tell....

This is my own opinion as I know several will be upset. You can not do well at finding errors or varieties AND verifying them with a cheap USB type of microscope. You and the rest are looking hard to find something , using an USB with 5mp or less and then blowing up just a section for identification posting means the software has to make and include a larger and larger number of inferred unknown ( FAKE) values from trends of the known data. Intrapolated means it checks what is around the fake insertion it is going to do and puts in something that fits. Once your image starts looking like cubes, you are Way over the norm. Using an APP magnifier on a USB image just increases the fake-ness. I know the USB is cheaper than a real lab type microscope, but I would buy the best magnifier possible for a similar price rather than the USB camera to start. You can with practice take photos of a coin using the phone camera with the glass magnifier. I like these, come in several powers, I use the 10X. It's a triplet.

You can tell if you are adding fake pixels by using a coin with stairs on it. The camera can not know when the edge is going to turn or not , so the edge of the staircase is fuzzy. The camera does well if all of the lines are straight and the shades are few, but give it a real life object with curves and it will not do well.

Almost all of the illustration photos in the error and variety webpages are not USB. They may be electronic, but with 8-12 mp level, the fuzziness isn't noticeable. With the new 24mp+ cameras, any fuzziness you see are your doing.

Before you ask. Yes, I have used an USB camera . Bought it when they were new, 3mp ( high for then). Used it for several weeks and put it back into the box. I keep it to remind me not to do it again :) IMO, Jim

I completely agree. I need to upgrade my equipment as soon as possible after some research and some funds.

I do think my last picture was the best though, and certainly looks like a probable later stage M.D.S./Stage B doubled ear lobe to me.....so I am at least showing signs of progression. ;)

The point is for most doubled dies, RPMs etc. 5 power magnification is all you need. The average phone camera is more than enough when you use a tripod, and decent lights. Particularly for the doubled ear Lincoln.
