I got this yesterday at a coin shop. I thought the center part looked like it might be gold plated and I knew it was proof. It looks like the only proof is a silver proof, but I don't know if this is silver. Is this in fact a silver proof? I got it for $4 so if so it was a great deal. I wish I'd bought the other one they had too.
Bi-metallic composition. Brass plated aluminum bronze center in nickel plated steel. They also made silver proof coins with a gold plated inner core. The bi-metallic coin was made for circulation and has edge lettering. The silver proof doesn't have the edge lettering. That's the correct weight for the silver proof. I don't know the value but there are places to check the current prices. See what they're going for on eBay. Probably you can check PCGS and NGC for the current value.
