I got this in the mail three days ago and put it into some acetone as it was filthy. Seller sold this as a VF, probably due to the weakness in the obv. details. With the grime removed it appears unc. The obv. die appears to have been rusty (and polished?) as the cheek in front of the ear is rough. I like the off center strike too. I misspoke when I said the seller sold this as a VF as they didn't offer a grade. This was listed for the price of a VF 1864 bronze.

New acquisition from my local coin shop. Price for an MS60 just about triples.

My best friend bought a sail boat and set sail this morning from Barcelona. Their plan is pretty much the exact path Columbus took through the Caribbean into Florida. As a good luck token, I gave him my very sweet 1893 Columbian Half to carry with him. So I have been on the hunt for a replacement. Although I was looking for a 63/64 slabbed replacement, this lot caught my eye and was a reasonable price. The seller even threw in the cool 1900 German Empire 10 Pfennig.

My first EAC. Not a beauty, but the price was right. Going into my 7070 until I upgrade. 20200304_065600.jpg 20200304_065006.jpg

Why,it is my newest acquisition. The thread deals with your newest and I thought of posting in ancients before I posted. I believe this coin qualifies for this thread.

It qualifies for the thread, but you will have better luck finding info on it in the Ancients section where the collectors for them hang out.

It's a good looking coin and I appreciate you showing it off. It's just that most ancient collectors seem to keep to their own area. I wish they didn't.

You asked a question about identifying your coin. I told you to post it in the Ancient section where you would get more help. There is nothing wrong with you posting it here. You just would get more help in that section.
