    Looks like a play-money version of a gold sovereign.

    Thx. But strange , i found this coin at Italian trenches (about 1/2 m deep ) in battlefiled of ww1 in Slovenija... never seen before...

    Perhaps some environmental factor going on? Were any test pieces done in a different composition? Don't know, just throwing that out there.

    I dont know. Maybe its some tester before gold coinage...I digget out this coin about 10yrs ago, was from an solider in italian army(ww1).... it looks like some ordinary coin, but no info about anywhere... strange???

    I'm not an expert, but it might be a contemporary counterfeit. It may have had a gold wash or gold-like coating at one time. That may be gone due to being buried
