I found this in the same roll as the last EDS RPM this one seem's to have more of the sherif exposed, regards Harry
Harry, This appears to be a 196_? D... without a complete year it is extremely difficult to locate the information you are seeking. I can see the sw pointing tail from the bottom of the D. Is that a split serif on the bottom and or upper left corner of the D? The split will look like a V, sometimes being very shallow or almost unnoticeable. Is there a straight line inside the D near the upward section? Check it again and get back to us... someone here might just know how it should be classified. jeankay
Sorry Jeankay it came from a second roll I opend (with 5 others coins the same) of 1960 D LD,the first roll had 2 of these and this the second roll also had 2 coins with filled legs on the R in LIBERTY with one having a die scratch through the left side top of the N running to the E in CENT I've yet to post these 2 coins, regards Harry
Ed's rpm Hi Ed, We all know there are many more die varieties for the 1960's that I have yet to see, so my diagnostic comparisons might not be the right ones. The one example I could find showed a bottom tail more like your coin than any of the other examples. With what I see, compared to coppercoins.com website for the 1960D, this could be a 1960D-1MM-039 D/D east. The markers for obverse MDS are die scratches under the D going s.e. Die crack at rim between IN and GOD... the picture shows it as being very close to the G and not through it. Die scratches going n.w. from back of the coat to below the T in Liberty. Reverse marker is a die crack on column 12, and the bottom lower left corner of the memorial base. Other than that you might have to do some cyberspace searching to see if you can find a match. jeankay
It would be hard to say which RPM it is. The MM was punched into the Die. All MM will vary from the date to the bust to the rim. A picture of the Date and MM from head on (meaning coin laying flat, take picture with lens flat across the coin with out angle) might be conclusive.
G'day Ed,yes very nice mate I noticed that you have a die chip R,there were two filled R's or die chip R's in this roll of 1960D LD as well, the second one on the revese and I still dont know RPM this is,regards Harry
Harry, It is nice to see that Lincolns make it to your part of the woods. I have plenty of RPM from the 60 D time period. I also have die chip's and die break's from both obverse and reverse. 1960 was a bad year for problem's at the Denver mint.
G'Day Ed,I'm lucky that some seller will ship coin rolls down under and there's not that many who will,I had to fight tooth and nail to get the last 2 rolls or I wouldn't be posting these error coin now,I love error coins mate any error coins and VAM's are my favorite error coins but the Lincoln's are starting to be a close second. Please check out the other post "my imagination or S over P" I know that's imposable from the Frisco mint but seeing is believing and are there any more like this around also thanks Ed for your input and seeing some of your coins give me hope for finding more RPM's in 1960 D's regards Harry
Nugget, I am sorry for folks like you that want to collect U.S. coins but due to Australia's strict Import Laws, the following items are prohibited from being shipped from the U.S. to Australia: Coins; bank notes; currency notes (paper money); securities of any kind payable to bearer; traveler’s checks; platinum, gold, and silver (manufactured or not); precious stones; jewelry; and other valuable articles. With the possibility of arrest, conviction and imprisonment, it is not hard to understand why us blokes will not and cannot ship any coins to you! Frank
Thanks Frank and yes "I know nothing"to quote a fraze from an old TV show mate, shame It's like this tho It dosen't stop me from trying to finish my collections regards Harry
G'Day Ed,found 3 more of the die chipped "R"(total of 5) tho they haven't got the die scratch on the reverse, regards Harry
