I have a 1982 d small date penny weighs 3 grams what other criterias should I look for to verify value
Pease check out these photos Paulette. You will see how to determine the small date you want on the 1982 D lmc BTW click on photo to enlarge
Looks Large date to me Also, do NOT use food scales. You will do yourself a disservice and just confuse everyone else with the measurements. You need a jewelers scale, which does not weigh enough to do food but does give 2 to 3 decimals for accurate weights of small, light things like coins. Food scales can he highly inaccurate for coins as they'll just round the number. Also, dependent upon placement on the scale the scale brand may also deviate the measurement. So with your food scale the coin may have been a little more than 2.51 of which it rounded up to 3 or it could have been 3.11 of which it rounded down to 3
The small date has a graceful swan's neck 2. The large date has a sloppy 2. Compare all the photos provided. Notice the small date is away from the rim and the large date is next to the rim. The small date will also have a little more of a snowman shaped 8.
perusing the Instruction Manual for the scale it only does WHOLE Grams, which makes it virtually useless .. except for weighing food. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1215959/Weight-Watchers-Electronic-Food-Scale.html?page=2#manual In other words "3" grams could be from 2.51 up to 3.50. Even though those are expensive scales, you are better served with a sub $20 jewelers type scale such as https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0731F3F2...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
