'68-S Lincoln - identify the doubling

I want to say the dead giveaway is the doubling on the mint mark dispositive of strike doubling, but let's hear your opinions. Thanks!

I would say machine doubling. A loose die on the press would cause this type of doubling.

Machine Doubling. 68, 69, 70. You will find alot these years for quality control was some where else.

 

I have a few of those, and it is mechanical doubling, but this pic is not as good as yours.

 

You could always turn around and sell it on ebay as a "rare" 68S doubled die!

 

But of course that would be misleading.

 

You are correct.... my bad.... don't want to be misleading..... therefore, you can say that you are selling an "Extremely rare" 1968S Doubled Die!

 

and be honest, just say:

"It would be extremely rare if this were a Doubled die."
