Picture_20204428054443.jpg Picture_20204228054253.jpg Picture_20204428054408.jpg Got this one out of the hospital vending machine. What's up with the smooth step up right at the base of the neck, directly above the date? Yes, still in the hospital, still on meds, but this one is clear as day. Appreciate the input Everyone. Hope ya'll have a great Friday.

    More pics if needed, lmk.

    Respectfully,

    Hagen

I'm in the machine doubling or die deterioration camp. I don't see a Doubled Die Obverse.

Hey Hagen , how are you Man? I didn't know you were in the hospital. What's up with that?

Sorry , my friend, I think it's just MD or DDD also, but Paddyman98 or Fred would be your specialists on such questions.

Good to hear from you, Hagen. Good Luck with your coin searches and Get Well Soon !!

    Check this website :
    Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties

Look on the upper left side for the contents and click on "Worthless Doubling".

Thanks bud, yeah.. Took a wild dog bite up in the mountains. No bueno. I'd post pics but might make some vomit. It's been a battle but the only way to coin hunt here is to shove a $5 in the vending machine and hit the refund change button, lol! Thanks fellas and you brother @Hookman. This one just had a different look than a wd, mdd, or DDD so I figured I'd give it a shot. Talk soon!

Hagen, thanks for the link, I’ve already learned something, if I understand mechanical dubbling from the pictures, if the outer edges of the lettering have a flat ridge that runs the edge of like “a ridge or edge on trimming in a house”. That is mechanical. Correct me if I’m wrong.

your in my prayers, I live with a rare medical syndrome after a botched surgery and have been in and out of hospital many times. Not fun way to live.

When the lettering/numbering around the rim pushes up against the edge, its usually a sign of Die deterioration doubling. Jim

Hey, you never know... With all due respect, a lot of my old folk friends here don't care, they're digging into their change jar for those peanut M&M's. I might hit a jackpot, hahaha.. Except here's proof of no pennies or halves, my favorites!!!! 20200302_152713.jpg

Wow a buck for a candy bar and it's not even for a king size. I remember when a candy bar was just a quarter. Well, I'm really not that old, yet. I was in the Navy then so we got gedunk for more then half price compared to the civilian sector.

You're telling me, (thank you for your service Sir, Former Marine here and my hospital roommate is Navy Vietnam Era). I think they're just taking advantage of my inability to escape. Regardless, I'm shaking down this machine and going vending roll hunting, hahaha! Thanks everyone!

Thank you sir for your service as well. I was on the USS Midway from 86' to 91'. Your Navy Vietnam Era roommate could have been on the USS Midway since she (Midway) participated in various operations during Vietnam.

Worn and minted from an old die would be my feeling. Hope you get out of there soon.

He told me pass along a big thank you as well for your service on the Midway. He was actually in the "DevilFish" or "The Devil Boat," USS Hawkbill. He's got a couple years on us, I was 99-2003. Not much to do here other than milk the vending machines change and do some art. Knocking out some drawings for the awesome nurses, some vets (that's his sub 666)hence the name Devil Boat and of course, Mom. Been doing art for years, and I don't have 1 piece, I give all away and do it for people to surprise them. Just something that builds my karma bank. I'm kind of steering off the "error topic" forum but thank you all for your help and service. 20200304_134641.jpg
