I have just been trying to fill my needs list on mint sets and proof sets in the last couple of weeks after a short break from collecting coins. Anyway, I am just looking for advice on reputable dealers with reasonable prices to complete my collection. Thanks in advance

I see your dilemma. These sets have pretty much bottomed out price-wise. This is part of the reason I am attempting to finally complete my collection. As for ebay... I have been watching, but there are some people that seem to get sucked into bidding wars. I stick to my max bid, and no more.
    Thanks for the advice!

Some of the larger dealers have BIN prices. Check them out instead of bidding.

As a place to start, I would suggest using this forum’s Want List.

When you buy anything from the US Mint you very rarely can get your money back. The premiums take up any potential profit.

Where is it stated that you have to accept a sellers BIN or get sucked into a bidding war? You can always make an offer below the BIN or for any auction for which no bids have been placed. I used to do that all the time, and it does work. Just be nice! All they can do is say "No!". ~ Chris

The best way to buy these is to go to a multi-day show on the last day, find a dealer with a lot of proof and mint sets, make a stack of the ones you want, and ask for a price on the lot. They would much rather take home cash than a pile of proof sets.

I have found some really beautiful mint sets recently, just been on a coin diet since buying the 58';) It seems other buyers are very happy too. They're out there, but for older stuff, I'd like to buy after a good in hand gander.
