I purchased this quarter eagle last july at the ANA convention and wanted some opinions on condition and value.
The mintage is just 252.923, the gray sheet and red book values run around
    $200 in Xf grade.
Here's what bothers me...The dealer sold it to me for $120,something keeps telling me this is too good to be true.
By the way...the price is almost exactly double current melt value.

It looks real to me, although it may be cleaned and the 0 looks alittle funny. (I'm no expert so don't take my opionion to heavly)

i would say legitimate.. the O's probably out of focus. I don't understand your question fully, i believe. Are you asking for grade, or authenticity?

That may be the problem - I'd say the coin is VF.

The hair above LIBERTY and at the top of the eagle make me think VF20 also....

Nothing about it seems to suggest it's fake, if that's what you mean... as to grade, well I'll let more expert people than I try to figure that out, lol.

I agree with VF20, may be cleaned. Can't tell from the picture.

That sure is an ODD wear pattern. I suspect the coin is fake, but I am anything but an expert and hope that my suspicion is incorrect...Mike

It looks to be a VF, but it also has a patina as if it has had a cleaning way back when.

Looks to me it was a former Jewelry Piece. That could explain some of the uneven wear and the concerns over it being cleaned.
