thank you, just thought it looked like a souvenir of some kind or gum machine prize , it feels heavy when removed from the case, thanks again
It looks to be Indian and elephants I believe represent Ganesha (Indian daity) And possible Vishnu in the forefront :smile I am sure one of our Indian members might be along to tell you exactly though LOL
The obverse shows Hindu Goddess Laxmi flanked by 2 elephants (Not Ganesh) and the reverse shows the word 'OM' written in Devangiri script. Its obviously neither a coin nor a temple token but a semi silver round used as goodluck charm or gift.
Thanks kidromeo, just googled the godess, quite interesting, also think it may have brought a little luck my way!
For a bit more of background on 'om': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om It is also chanted in yoga (my experience with it) at the beginning and/or end of a practice, it can be pretty powerful to have 100 people in one room, all chanting 'om' at the same time after a vigorous 2 hour long session of exercise! ~Droid
