Take a look at this. What does "deleted" mean in TPG-speak? The Seoul retailer, Soojip.com, is selling this very coin here (the second image in the thumbnails): http://soojip.com/product/shopview.php?shop=1002923 Does this mean the coin has been struck from their graded coins list? Then how is this coin still in a holder and obviously still for sale??
Something happened, but it's hard to say if it was just a system glitch at NGC, an honest mistake, if the coin was cracked and the label returned, or if something was wrong with the slab/coin. https://www.ngccoin.com/boards/topic/380378-grade-deleted/ "When a coin is marked as deleted in our system, it usually means that the coin was removed from the holder and the tag was returned to us for removal from the census report. However, sometimes it is simply a data error we can correct if we have a photo of the coin as proof that it is indeed still intact in the holder. "
Thanks for your help! You need to put the holdered coin next to a newpaper with today's date she says. Funny, but I guess that's one way to prove it is still in the holder..(?)
You're welcome! I'm guessing writing out the date on a piece of paper would work too, but the newspaper method was the way to prove the date back in the day.
I am sorry for resurrecting this thread. My fathers SQL 1917 MS66 that was stolen along with the rest of the collection has the identifier of 346529-010 and the NCG database comes back NGC Cert # 346529-010 NGC Description 1917 TYPE 1 25C NGC Grade DELETED http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/02142009/mov06369.mpg That is a video of the coin. I assume that means it was cracked out of the case. WHat would NGC know about the person who cracked it out. It seems that dealing in stolen merchandize is a common event in the coin business but that someone sent back the slab to make sure the coin was removed from the population totals?
Ok.. I just stated my opinion. You know I have figured out issues with problem members in the past and they have been dealt with correctly by you. Just saying.
