I thought this was pretty cool. There's a you tube video that shows how it works. Anyone else seen this. If this has already been posted I apologize. https://enterlanch.com/products/192...j_lrODiwF5n0RuTprhTp7s709icTjR-3smk9jd7UO90r0
I have seen the kinds of works of art before. I only wish I had one iota of that level of talent.... I do have to say though that each time I see one of these it pains me just a wee bit that a coin has been sacrificed for the work of art.
I guess it's a small comfort that it was a common Morgan, at least the one I saw, but yeah, you are right. I tried to grab a pic to put in this post but the site would not let me. I know some folks don't like using unknown links.
one of the chinese fake coin websites has so many Morgan Hobo Dollars now ... I went quickly through 6 pages of countless number of pages of them and didn't see this particular one but it does have that common patina that they are known for. Just looking at the denticles on the reserve it looks fake. On the bottom the denticles are separated from the rim and they slowly merge as it goes up along the sides to the top.
The original was a work of art and one of a kind. These are assuredly knock of copies using fake coins. (Think about it, the workmanship that would have to go into that to make it by hand, and then to sell them for the cost of a common Morgan.)
I was a fool and ordered this coin. It does not do what the video shows it can do. I am so disappointed. I purchased 2 of them. One for each of my siblings. I hope I can get my money back!!!!! What a fraud!!!! Don't purchase because you will be disappointed!!!!
return them if you can. These are not "coins" in the true sense. They are based on coins (assuming you don't have a fake) and some people engrave scenes on them. So you are paying for someone's labor when you buy it, up and above the value of the underlying coin if it's based on a real coin. After you buy one of these it's "real" value is melt, or the price of the silver content. If you find someone that likes the picture on it, then you can sometimes get more than that. It's like a new car .. worth half what you just paid as soon as you drive it off the lot.
I'm sorry to hear this. I hope no one thought I was advocating the purchase of these. I just thought they looked cool.
I'm just glad I didn't order all 6 like I had planed. My edited is sore, butt I'll keep it because not worth the effort to send back.
And how is this different than a "hobo" nickel...an item that has a huge collector population? If someone likes the artwork enough to pay the price that is being asked--where's the problem?
The original with moving parts was made by Roman Boteen, the non moving ones are die struck fakes from china, not even a real coin to start with.
These are rarely real Morgan’s. I aquired this for free...... only weighs 20.5 grams. I suspect no silver content. But fun to look at. View attachment 1112516
These are advertised all over Facebook for under $20. It should be obvious that it is two parts of a fake coin put together. Cool looking if you know what you are purchasing and willing to put out the $20, so be it. Free shipping by the way.
