Top of head appears to have strike through error of some sort. I first thought die crack, but it doesn't reach the rim. The tape appears to be moving from above the forehead right to the "on" In jefferson. It appears as a piece of tape or plastic. Look at the proposed error and not the condition of the coin. It has circulation wear. Informed comments welcome.

I believe this to be a scratch, Notice how the anomaly skips arcoss the surface. To me that means it was a scratch. If it was a struck through the anomaly would most likely not have skipped. Biggest tell to me is the last picture how it doesn't connect between the head and the field.

This is the same coin. Take a look at the "R" in jefferson. There is D under the R. According to size, it looks to have come from president. This is visible with a 5x loupe. 20200218_123137.jpg 20200218_123207.jpg

I am going to grasp again. Look to the left of the J in jefferson. I took close ups. What do you think? 0218-6.jpg 0218_1.jpg

It's an anomaly, Nothing. If you think that is something send it off have it looked at and spend the $80 for a 1 dollar coin, If it's worth that much. I was trying to help you out. Now you are seriously just getting under the fingernails of everyone on this site. Take the advice. If you have a nothing, then it is a nothing. Yes sometimes, although very, very, very rarely the experts are wrong. But with what you post and think everything you have is the new next best thing. You're sorely mistaken.

What is your obsession with strike throughs and why do you think every coin you find contains a strike through?

I see scratches but nothing more.

I believe a lot of the coins out there with circulation wear gets passed over because of the wear. There are probably many strike throughs get thrown for this very reason, circulation wear. Start looking passed the wear and you might see.

Honest question, what are you looking to get out of this hobby? Are you looking to assemble a collection or are you looking to make money off coins you find?

Collecting to pass on to my son. Not a get rich quick venture.

Commendable. But you don’t want to leave him coins that are not what you think they are and are only worth face value.

My suggestion, if you really want to leave your kid a collection, step back from the coins for a bit and buy some books, read some websites that others have linked here, watch and read the forum. You’ll start to pick up on a focus area for collecting (there are infinite areas to focus on) and then build the knowledge you need to create the collection you want.

I’m not being mean when I say, the time you are spending arguing over obviously damaged coins could be better spent reading and learning.

Finally, if it’s error coins you are interested in, you may be better served buying a few real examples so you have something to compare your coins to.

    Best of luck.
