I have a magnetic 2011 24k gold plated Kennedy half dollar. Are gold plated half dollars supposed to be magnetic for that year ?? Because I have 1974 24k gold plated and it's not magnetic, so can this be some sort of error or worth anything ??

It's apparently fairly common to put on a layer of nickel plating before applying the gold -- gives more consistent and durable results, as I understand it. And pure nickel is strongly magnetic.

Might be something else besides gold they used for the plating. Even though.. it's not worth more than .50 Cents

Agree on both counts. Maybe a very thin layer of gold on top.
