I've owned a few Maurice Tiberius but both got bronze disease & I ended up parting with them. So I have been looking for a replacement for the third time & it looks like the third time is the charm. As usual, I picked this one very cheaply but the bonus is that this particular mint/year is pretty scarce. It also has a good provenance, Ed Waddell. I also happen to like this one more, better condition & sandy patina. My last 2 were the usual green. Maurice Tiberius (582 - 602 A.D. ) Æ Follis O: D N mAVRC TIber PP AV, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, globus cruciger in right hand, shield in left hand. R: Large M, ANNO left and date right, cross above, Γ below, CON in exergue. Dated RY 9 (590/1) Constantinople mint 11.86g 32.6mm SBCV 494 Ex. Ed Waddell (11/1981)

Nice coins. I rather like Maurice's folles - big and a bit crude. Here is one from Nicomedia: Maurice Tiberius Æ Follis Year 8 (589-590 A.D.) Nicomedia Mint N MAV TIb PP, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing w/ globus, cruciger and shield / Large M, ANNO left; regnal year ς II (8) right, cross above, Officina B below; NIKO in exergue. SB 512; MIB 75D var. (11.19 grams / 30 x 28 mm) Here's a scruffy one from Antioch: Maurice Tiberius Æ Follis Year 16 (597-598 A.D.) Antioch (Theopolis) Mint DN MA[V G I CN] P AVT (should be G), crowned, mantled bust facing, holding mappa and eagle-tipped sceptre / Large M, ANNO left, cross above, X/μI right, Γ below, THEUP´ in ex.
