Been a while since I've given an update in this thread but the last few times I've picked up boxes, I would get home and open them and they would all be new 2019's. I still search through them for blank planchets and clips (no luck) but it takes a while to work through them all.

But finally got a non-new box of nickels -- box #30 -- and it yielded some fun results:

    39x2, 40, 40s, 41x4, 42x2, 47, 48s (the first of this date/mint), and 49. No silver. But it also contained two worn-out buffalos -- one entirely dateless and the other either a 26 or 28 (I'm leaning towards 26). Definitely a P-mint so still a common date.

But what was most interesting is that in this one box, I found 5 2009P and 1 2009D. When I started searching, I went through about 10 boxes before I found my first 09 and over the past 29 boxes, I've only found a total of 3. In this one box, I doubled the quantity and even found two 09's in a single roll. I just find it very interesting in how the factor of randomness affects the search. That's one of the reasons I keep it up. I know I'll never find a 3-legged buffalo or a 55 DD cent but its the sheer unexpectedness of the search that keeps me going.

This box brings my nickel "keeper" rate up to 0.51% which is one keeper out of every 200 coins or 1 out of every 5 rolls.

Where are you finding 2020 dimes? I can’t seem to get a good source of 2020 rolls. And my little brother is president of the local bank! You would think that would help.

I am starting to think 2018 and 2019 halves aren't NIFC. Oh well, I got 43 of 2019's, P/D. Another skunk box. 0 for 94. I didn't count 2018 because I no longer care about it.

Some nice finds recently posted here, congrats folks!

I am preparing to travel to FL for vacation next week, so I am working on placing an order for halves...East coast has yielded overall good results based on my past searches, so fingers crossed I can find a bank to order and also re-deposit my non-keepers. Unfortunately, I discovered today the head teller left the bank I had ordered from and re-deposited at last year, so now it is anyone's guess whether or not the new head teller will accommodate my unusual request.

Good luck berto! I have a GA vacation hunt planned this spring.

Hopefully, my luck is about to turn around, got a call from a nice teller today that she has $400 in new quarters that I'm picking up Saturday.

If you think the date is doubled it's not.

Searched a box of quarters last week - not a single 2019 quarter of any mint let alone a W! Figured it had been in storage for a year, lol. Picked up a box of quarters today as my next half dollar ordered boxes aren’t ready until tomorrow. This box was the opposite with about 130 x 2019 quarters. All were P & D, except for a lone Lowell W. :cigar: Also found a 2005-S California Proof.

2 boxes of halves today - nada. My only bright spot was this 1974-D DDO. Would have been a pretty nice coin except for some dark spots around the date. Think I’ll get another box of quarters tomorrow.

When you click the button and nothing happens, it means your error is valid. If you click the button and your post disappears, it means your coin was PMD! icon_smile_roflmao.gif

I admit I haven’t had time to search as many coins as usual, which is a bit of a bummer. Tonight I stopped at 3 banks and scraped up $8 loose halves, 2 CWR halves, and 1 MWR of halves.

The loose had a pristine 1986 Statue of Liberty commemorative, and the MWR held a ‘68D, so I am satisfied!

Nice, you got the D Statue of Liberty! I've found the S proof but I think your D had a much lower mintage! [IMG]
