Hello, I have two cents from a years ago that appear to be struck off center. Any thoughts on how far off center they are? Must have been a sleepy day at the mint.

Yeah probably 85-90% off-center is what I would say. Pretty cool. Shame they don't have the dates.

Ya, can't prove a thing without the dates, right? All I know is I found them in the late 70s or early 80s. Too long ago!

So at least you can weigh them to know they are copper. At least you can narrow it down to a 23 year period :p

One is 3.09 the other 3.08 so the period they where made? I don't know...

Close enough to 3.1g for them both to be copper. They are somewhere in that 23 year period. Not sure I could narrow it down any further.

Wow! Thanks furry, learning things every day. So if you don't mind my lack of knowledge, what 23 year period would that be, so I could pass on my new found smarts?:wacky:

Anything from 1959 to 1982 since that is when copper memorial cents were minted :)

I paid $6 for one that was a bit farther off center than yours but not nice and red like yours.

ya, I guess they do have a nice red color, now that you mention. Do you think I might ask a dealer for $10 or would I get shot down? Just askin'.

I feel like that is probably on the high side. Then again, I don’t really buy modern coins. Mostly just find them. @paddyman98 could probably give you a good estimate.
