ok i have kept all the date notes i have found (only three) am i the only one that keep's them? mm/dd/yyyy
I have never kept any...LOL but hey, thats whats cool about collecting! Nice Date notes there Helpmeplease...thanks for posting them.. RickieB
I dunno. To be perfectly honest, they're cooler than star notes, if you ask me. Also, if you have friends who aren't into coin/currency collecting, at least this is something you can show them and they'll "get" it - not like some of the other stuff we talk about sometimes.
To my knowledge, I have never found one. If I found one on a $1 note, I'd probably hang on to it. Any larger than $1, I'd spend it (unless it was an interesting date).
Ahhhhh. That is the question - what is an "interesting" date????? January 5, 2001 might be a very, very interesting date for someone. The trick is getting the note and the someone together!!!!!
No I don't collect them. I have gotten date notes in change but I always spend them. Date notes would be a very interesting collection if you could find those special dates in world or US history. Nice notes helpmeplease. Lou
I was thinking in the line of: The day the Titanic sank JFK's or Lincoln's assassination Start of WW 1 or 2 The date Teddy rode up San Juan Hill Date's that folks can relate to and make the collection of the notes more interesting, unusual and maybe more collectable. Lou
Interesting - I'll usually look for radars & repeaters but never thought about date notes. Now I have something new to look for ~ thanks!
Exactly, but to others it may not. For example, if I found a $20 with serial number 05211985...I'd probably keep it. Most people would think nothing of it. But, 5/21/85 is the date of my birth. Also, interesting days in history. For example, 07201969. 7/20/69 is the date of the first manned moon landing. One of my biggest personal interests is the manned space program...so a historical date related to that would be a keeper for me.
Some people even look for date notes for people's birthday. And they use them as a gift for that person to also possibly spark interest in collecting. Smaugy...
it would be tough to find a specific date. that guy looking for PI or 3.1415xxx will never find it. and if those are near impossible, then finding your social sec # would be just as tough.
yes if i see them, i keep them. i have a few, not sure exactly how many or the serials numbers though. but i disagree that they are better then stars stars are WAY better lol
i would like to find a 1976 $2 note with the serial 07041776 or a $1 with G.W. birth date or a $5 with Lincoln birthday.
those are some cool dates to find!!! I never thought to look for historical dates like those, but i always try to keep dated notes IF i notice them. Does anyone think historicly dated notes like this would fetch a premium or not? or are they just a novelty and valued only by the person who found it?
I received in the mail today the following note: 11101997 I also have a note: 01111997. Both are close but not perfect - our anniversary is 11011997. Date notes are hard to find because they get over looked by people that might otherwise sell collectible notes to collectors. My Binary notes are much easier to find than the date notes I am looking for. Problem with value also deters people from saving them. My example may only have meaning to me so the market is very small.
I think date notes are cool. Eventually, you do come across someone who will find them significant. The only ones I have I got from a bank about a month ago. They had some brand new $2 bills, in sequential order. The serials represent 02062001-02062010. So I took them figuring that eventually, I'd find someone who's birthday, anniversary, etc would be june 6.
