I picked this up this week. It is purely a "wait a while, then sell it" coin, as it doesn't really fit with anything in my collection, other than being a 20th century key-date. Once again, I have a grade on it in MY mind, but I welcome yours. Please give me your grades on this 1921-D Walker. Have fun, and Good Luck!!! P.S. - This is a typically market graded coin, so be careful!!!
I agree G-4. And why should I be careful - lol I have nothing at stake on voicing an opinion. Plus I don't market grade - I just give a Mark grade. Which may or may not be right or wrong. I know tpg'ers bump key date coins, but I don't.
I'd say it's a G-4 and no better. The rims need to be clearly defined to grade G-4, and this is pretty borderline IMHO. The motto is strong enough to read clearly, so that's good. But, I'd say this is a slider between AG-3 and G-4. But, I'm going to call it a G-4 since it's a nice clean and attractive example of a key coin in the set. I think the Walking Liberty is a very attractive coin with circulated and this is a very clean example and to me, has good eye appeal.
I'd say between G-4 and VG-8. The obeverse still shows some detail in the skirt and the motto is clear tho worn. The reverse has lost alot of rim definition which keeps me from saying solid VG-8.
I don't think this one could go any higher than G-4. It would fit nicely in my collection though I still need those tough 21's.
truthfully, there is very little spread between a G and a VG on this particular coin. The bigger spread is from VG to F. This is NOT an AG coin and it ain't a F either, so the grade debate between G and VG matters very little in the matter of price.
Hahahaha. Someone sort-of tried to pull this with me, it was a bit nicer though. I'd go G-4, maybe G-6. It's pretty nicely worn but looks decent for the grade.
I like this topic, maybe I will post this thread once a week for people to see different coins at different levels of preservation, and then get the opportunity to grade them for themselves, with no TPG coins being allowed. Any objections? Comments?
