I bought $104.50 in rolls at the bank recently. The extra 50 cents was a halve he had in his drawer I asked to buy. So I gave him $105. I got 2 quarters back. One was a pristine Lowell W quarter which was nice to see. I was excited as some of the rolls were Loomis quarter rolls. No other W mint marks in those rolls though.

Nice on the W! Funny how it happens like that. But we are grateful!

Of all the currency that I go through, I have only 1 * note. I don't know if any of you collect consecutive serials in bills. I cashed a check that was given to me for "services rendered". I got 25 $20 bills. There were 16 bills in consecutive order. I would get 2 or 3, but that's the largest number of consecutive bills I have ever gotten. Oh, yeah! I got through my wife's coin purse every once in a while, with her permission, of course. I got 3 Wheaties recently. There was a 1942 (P), a 1945 (P), and a 1956 D in nice shape. Who knows how long they have been in her purse.

I hadn't been through my wife's coin purse I quite a long time...but I did a week or so ago. Nothing significant this time, but I've found some keepers along the way. I'll need to be more diligent...she likes making exact change thereby reducing my chances of finding keepers.

She may have spent a lot of silver and old wheat pennies. Did you check Coinstar rejects because many people find silver because coin stars remove silver because it weigh is heavier than clad coins which may improve your chance of more keepers.

20200213_210623 copy.jpg Got this last week at Walmart self-checkout. I was surprised it wasn't rejected. Those machines scan only one side of the coins? I know that's Elvis Presley but I'm not sure what the 25th Anniversary thing is about.

I fear you are correct. She hasn't caught the coin collecting bug and enjoys teasing me about "all my money". She wants the "millions" but not willing to help me look for it. :D

Hi Jeff - Elvis died in the summer of 1977. It was the 25th anniversary of his death in 2002. What might have happened here was that a diehard Elvis fan bought a novelty piece that upon their own death, got spent by another family member who didn't share the Elvis fascination. Fun find just the same. I've picked up a couple painted/decaled nickels during a CRH event. Nothing like it in my change though.

    *Smacks forehead*
I had thought that it might be the 25th anniversary of his death, so I looked it up and told myself that it's been more than 25 years since he passed. I forgot.... 2002!!! Lol. (And I got an A in Calculus.)

Several years ago before I REALLY got into coin collecting and roll hunting, I remember seeing a pretty decent 1996 W dime in my change and thinking "I don't remember ever seeing a W dime before." So I did the most logical thing...I spent it. Still kicking myself over that one.

That's a tough memory. But we all have one of a coin that got away. Now that you mention it...I may go back through the bowl of dimes to check.

I was at a radio shack location before it closed. My friend checked out before me and i heard something in his change. I looked and saw a silver time. Cool!
Then i checked out and i got 2 silver dimes. I asked if they had any more old dimes and i came back with like 20 silver dimes including mercs. It was crazy!

Got an old-timer in change recently. Fun to see a coin this old in circulation.

In late May last year my wife and I set off from Pennsylvania for Banson MS to meet a long time Navy Buddy and his wife. The route chosen was to help fulfill my bucket list of visiting all 50 states (I now need 5 more, one of which I will visit at the end of Feb 2020). The trip actually took us through tornado alley and provided some interesting times since we were there through the big storms reported on the news. Anyway, while in the outskirts of Tulsa close to the airport we went to a local minimart to get a few items and I noticed this shiny Lincoln sitting on the cash register. I asked if I could buy it and the clerk gave it to me saying "No problem, keep it, its only a penny". Thought I would share my good fortune with you and request an opinion of grade from anyone wishing to provide one. Thanks Don

@sambyrd44 Nice find Sam!! Check your 1917 out carefully for similarities to this. Pictures are a little small for me to discount your coin.

When I was a kid, I was a cook at a local restaurant. I was cooking one day when I heard one of the waitresses dump a roll of quarters in the drawer. I heard the sound of silver! I shouted out from behind the grill that all the silver was mine, and I proceeded over to pull a solid roll of silver quarters out of the drawer. As I went to fetch another roll of quarters, I claimed the silver in the safe. Ended up with 4 rolls of silver out of 6 rolls in the restaurant. It was my best day for silver!!
