FOR ALL THOSE WONDERING WHY SELLERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE NEUTRAL OR NEGATIVES ANY LONGER. This was too rich not to share with you guys. I purchased a partial roll of coins from a guy who lives fairly close. Paid for the morning of July 28th. Received them on August 6th. Now, I live approx. 3 hrs away from this seller. I cover the full spectrum on feedback. This past month I have left some of the nicest, most glowing feedbacks of anyone on there. When deserved. Less than satisfactory, I leave neutral. Which to me, hasn't seemed like a big deal. So, here's the actual feedback I left and his response to it: Neutral: "$4 shping, live 3 hrs away from seller, took 10 days to receive, otherwise ok" Reply: "It took 5 days (lie), it was 3.99 shipping, and was clearly stated, very sad Ebayer" Positive he leaves me: "REALLY CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS GUY QUITE A NASTY PERSON" LOL! All I did is pay immediately and wait! But we're not done! Oh no! First message, first communication he sends me: "You know a nuetral counts the same as a neg dont ya a__hole??? Also, when you bid the shipping charge was clearly stated. I really will never understand why total jerks like yourself have to exist on this planet. I hope you really have a lousy lousy weekend." My response: " No, I didn't. Guess I haven't gotten as many as you have. I really will never understand why sellers are determined to profit on shipping instead of charging actual like I do. I didn't lie about anything. It's a single feedback. Get over it." His reply: "Your an ahole, and get over it. Your stubborn and dont get along with people, so get over it, your also BLOCKED so get over that...now go away and go have a drink, by your self, of course!!" My response: " Maybe ebay would like me to send copies of your e-mails to them to let them know how you respond to buyers who pay immediately and do nothing wrong??" His reply: "Shut up fool." So, this is why sellers are not allowed to leave negatives because I guranteed would have been given one from this guy for absolutely nothing. This guy sells a lot of coins. Some of you may run into him on ebay. I'm leaving him anonymous as a (undeserved) courtesy. BTW, he has 12 neutrals in the past 12 months and many negatives.
1) Did he pay close to $4 for S/H? Don't forget to include the envelope or other packaging. The actual postage may be shown on the label or you can add up the stamps used. 2) I often get mail from the east coast faster than something mailed from 3 hours away. What day was the package postmarked? If he mailed the package promptly and it took the USPS several days to deliver it I don't see how that is his fault.
You shoudnt have responded, just forwarded the email to Ebay. Responding to things like that just feed the flames
Vess you really handled that better than I would have , any idiot like him that calls me a a--------- would definately get a neg. at least . He went over the line after insulting you 2X . I'd tell you to report him , but an ignorant person like him that knows your address , God knows what he'd do , so you did the right thing by letting it drop . rzage:kewl:
negative feedback left I purchase a clock once from a e-bay member, price was 29.99 w/9.00 shipping. After I received it I left positive feedback because it was the deal I was happy with. Later I received a message from this seller that said he made a mistake on the shipping charges and that they were 20.25. Quote "i am sorry for the delay. your item was shipped yesterday , thursday thru ups. you paid $9.00 s&h , it cost $20.25.let your conscience be your guide." I told him I'm sorry and that I would split the difference. He requested 11.00 for payment thru paypal. So my 9.00 and the 11.00 would make it 20.00. My responce " Dear Sir; you said that the shipping charge was $20.25, I said I would split the difference with you. I already pay $9.00 of that in regular auction so the split of what is left over is $5.63. I will pay that amount. Thanks" His responce " you said send a money request , i did. now you want to squirm out of that! its fair because as you saw on the box thats what it cost to get it there! man some people ! hope you dont teach your kids your tricks, ya know squirelly. youve left fb i havent yet. lets just see how you were raised!" My responce " You're weird, The box does not indicate what it cost to ship. However you said it cost $20.25 to ship, I paid $9.00 of that in the auction, that leaves $11.25 witch I then said I would pay 1/2 witch means I was willing to pay $5.63. A simple mathematics problem you made difficult. see ya. So now he has left me a negative. I send a message to e-bay about extortion from this guy and they said nothing. Am I P.O.'d YES
Welcome, Rock. I thought the new rules do not allow a seller to leave a Neg for a buyer. When did you have your problem?
The problem happened in April of this year. E-bay felt that there was no extorsion happening here. His feedback was horrible. "A REAL LOWLIFE, A CHUMP OF A PERSON! EXPECTS HIS S&H FREE. AVOID LIKE THE PLEAG tradercharles0 ( 1016) Apr-18-08 18:07 My reply was; shipping was paid seller wanted more offered to split he wanted all rude greedy
Well, The guy's communication skills sure leave something to be desired. I am not the fastest shipper in the world myself. You know - work for a living BUT I am up front about it as well and therefore never have problems with it. I "guesstimate" a lot of my shipping charges. Usually works out against me as I "guesstimate" too low. One game I have ALWAYS hated on ebay though is the seller not leaving feedback first. As a buyer I tend to not leave feedback at all in those circumstances. If I sell, get money in a reasonable time then you get a positive. Simple as that. Of course I have confidence in what I sell and keep the communication lines open. Funny how well that can work out for both parties. The guy DID state his shipping charge but, yes, I think he's an idiot. Bet you're really upset that you are now a blocked bidder. Like you were going back for more? clembo
Hobo: The guy got around to printing a shipping label on 8/03. 7 days after I had paid. The shipping was not on the envelope and it was a generic envelope. I'm sure he told them to leave it off. 0.2 oz. for 2-5 day shipping is less than a dollar, especially being this close. Rzage: This is all after I left the neutral. I told him it's a good thing I hadn't contacted him because then it guaranteed would have been a negative and it would have been much more cutting. I've gotten pretty good at abbreviating and using every character at times. Clembo: I guestimate too and I'm always low. In fact I end up eating some of the shipping more often than not. It isn't worth it to me to over-charge and I feel for the buyer as well. I would rather it be this way, but I don't sell all the time either. I also wouldn't send anything less than 2-3 day priority unless it was something very heavy or large. There simply isn't that much of a difference when sending something as light as a coin to have to go with cheap shipping. To clarify, I was completely aware shipping was 3.99. I knew in advance it was over-priced. But, had I received it even by Saturday ( 6 days from 3 hrs away), I would have left a positive and not bothered with it. I do get impatient anyway, but I could have waited that long and been fine. I was just not impressed with the length of time it took and no communication whatsoever from this guy. Especially since I knowingly over-paid for 2-5 day shipping as it was. If it was somebody with integrity and/or a 100% feedback rating, I would have contacted them first to see what the problem was and would not have ruined their feedback over something this trivial.
I am only thinking aloud, nobody read into this: Ok, so I took too long to ship, thats what the shipping star rating system is for, but this guy actually read my auction and understood my upfront shipping costs, agreed to pay them and then gave me a nuetral ? Hmmm, Oh well, another buyer to block I guess. OK, back to topic...what were we talking about? I forgot, was distracted for a bit.
The only thing that I'm upset about is the he lowered my score. It was 100% and his little antics lowered it to 99.7%. His was at a low 99.5% and continues to get worst. I did let him know that I turned him in to e-bay for extortion and his comment was "if you think extorsion occured , bud i will gladly pay you back. you let me know." Well I let him know and as expected no response. As far as shipping around here goes, if you mail a letter to go to my neighbor it has to go to the main post office 3 1/2 hrs. away and then back to my neighbor. So your looking at 2 maybe 3 days. It sounds goofy but that's the way it is.
He likely did this to protect himself. I would have been half tempted to buy something from him, maybe pay, maybe not, and slam him with the negative he deserves. Now I can't.
I hate to say it but I can see the sellers point. The fact is .. he did ship the item promised and the shipping was clearly stated. If you were worried about the item being late you should have tried to contact him to see what was going on after X days. I have had several items which have been 10 days or longer in receiving but never have left a neg. or neutral feedback just because of a few extra days. It makes no difference where the 2 of you live. I always try and find out the status of the item first. Things happens.
It is clear this guy does not put much effort into getting things shipped. I'm sure many people have lived with it and moved on. Some people are impatient. I'm letting those people know. No communication at all. I will give a neutral in this situation 9-1/2 times out of 10. Neutral really isn't THAT bad. To me, it was less than a positive transaction. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I didn't lie or make anything up about him or the item. I did say "otherwise ok". He decided to lie about me though. I wasn't that dissatisfied until he started sending me these messages.
Well the guy sure was a jerk to communicate like that, that much is for sure. I did not see where you try to communicate with the seller pre-nuetral tho. Communication is paramount to a succesful transaction. Both ways. As a seller, I do my best to keep my 100% pos, nd that included kissing some a$% on occasion, but in the long run, it pays off. Also, as a seller, a nuetral is as bad as a neg. I am sorry to see you so quick to give one without any communication. If I missed it , and you did email the seller first, I apologise fully.
I completely agree. Communication is paramount. Which is why as a seller, I've never had a single problem. I always keep people well informed as a simple courtesy. As I stated above, I did take into account his previous feedback before leaving mine. I would not ruin somebody's 100% positive feedback over something this trivial. Unsurprisingly, this guy's had problems in the past. I feel my expectations are quite minimal actually. He got this from lack of effort and communication more than anything.
I cannot imagine giving an angry fool the satisfaction of a response to a foul mouthed email regarding an email transaction. There are angry fools out there in life, you see them in traffic, in the grocery stores and on eBay. The worst thing you can do to these angry fools, is ignore them. It kills them. They would rather have the satisfaction of a fight and foul mouthed fest.
Apparently he's not done yet. "So in other words you gave me a neg over one dollar!!!! Did it make you feel like a man when you did it? Did you feel like you were powerful? Beleive me I wish I did hand deliver, as you suggest, so I could give a little something extra for your purchase. My guess is you are only high school educated and probably have a job that pays under 40k a year right? man alive what a premium loser you are!!" Wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong. Will be sending everything to ebay now. Shame.
