1976 D Penny

    Hey guys, have you ever seen a penny this color before?..If so, what causes it to be this gold color.

    I read some classroom science experiments are done to change the color of copper. They use different chemicals on the surface then use heat to create the colors. They can also plate the copper cents.

    How accurate are the colors in the photo? The white balance looks off.

    If my memory hasn't gone completely bananas, I think I remember duplicating this color about 60 years ago using a pencil eraser.

    The colors you see in the photos. Are 100% On point.

    They're just brass. Science experiments. People with too much time on their hands. Who the hell knows why they do this?
