Help with Coin

OK, I admit to being dumb when it comes to foreign coins.

This coin is readily identifiable as an Austrian 15 Kreutzer, Prauge Mint. Beyond that I am not sure about anything.

It appears to have been cleaned, harshly. There is an Obverse planchet crack from the rim at 9:00 to the Portrait hairline and some evidence of this crack is on the reverse at 3:00, but does not go as far as on the Obverse.

I'd say the grade is around XF. And, I suspect it is a fake ........

Now, anything you guys can tell me about it, who the portrait is of, any other history and details and especially the "price" would greatly be appreciated.

I do not collect foreign and my Krausse World Book does not have this particular coin listed .......... HELP!!

It supposed to be austrian XV Kreuzer from Prague with habsburg Archduke Karl VI (also Charles VI) (1711-40)...He was Holy Roman Emperor, King of Bohemia (as Karel II) and Hungary (Karoly III) from 1711 to 1740. He was the son of Leopold I (hogmouth). If real this coin would have been minted in the last year of his reign.

Details seem rather soft, flat and inscriptions seem wide to me...just not very sharp...here is another example of the coin to compare:

That is exactly the information I was looking for - so I can intelligently (or seemingly so) explain it to a prospective buyer.

Now, what about the price? Got any ideas on that subject?

 

I think it is a counterfeit - the hair on the top of the forehead throws it for me-

 

If its a fake its worth nothing to melt of course. If real...the example above sold for 177 USD in auction but was priced as 150 in 2003...yours would be no more than 100 USD I would say, maybe someone else will chime in for values...

 

I tend to agree for reasons I mentioned in my first post... but I am no expert. Though I would not buy it

 

Fake it is ..........

I have had the thought that it was a fake/counterfiet. It just never looked or felt right. So, it goes into my "fake" box along with my cast 1877 Trade Dollars, cast 1915 $5 gold Indian and some other "bad" coins. I even have an 1804 Dollar, "made in China" :goof:

I keep the box to educate myself as well as others to fakes and such.:smile
