I want everyone to have a go at grading this Barber Quarter that I have. Here's the thing, though, It's not graded by ANY TPG, so the final arbitor in this grading discussion, is you the reader. Grade it and post what you think, I have several opinions already grading the coin in-hand, but I need to improve on my photography skills, well, and I figure with no TPG, people will get a flavor of what I have said through the TG vs MG threads. That people should learn to grade for themselves. I don't care what it's worth, I only care what it is... regardless of what the market may say.

    enjoy this 1915-S Barber Quarter...

I don't collect anything Barber, so I'm just guessing, but MS 66. I say that because the details in the stars and denticles are flawless, so far as I can see.

Conservatively, I'd agree to no more than an AU 55. Luster is still a bit there, in the fields, but is apparently completely worn off the high points and the design/devices. There are some distracting "scrapes" that, in my opinion, would keep it from any MS grade.

However: Overall it is a beautiful rare example of a high grade Barber and is a fine coin that would grace any Barber collection of MS grade coins.

umm, actually, that is my poor photographic skills trying to keep the glare down. The coin is bright white and the luster appears on the devices as well, it just doesn't show well the way I photgraphed it.

I'll say AU58 and lightly cleaned with the caveat that the hairlines I'm seeing (especially on the Obv) may be on the plastic from the 2x2.

Looks unc to me. I'll give it MS63.

Hard to say if the chatter in the right obverse field is on the coin... I think not. I think it's on the holder / glare.

Nice luster ! Nice coin !

I will say that the coin has Uncirculated details although there could be a slight rub on the hair, hard to tell from the photos. IMO the coin has been lightly cleaned and hairlines definitely visible. I will grade the coin MS details--Cleaned---Net Grade AU55.

Yeah, that sometimes happens. I think AU 50 is excessively low, but it could still be an AU 58 if it does actually display signs of wear in hand.

If it doesn't, and it's hard to tell, then I'd say 63 also. The bagmarks in front of liberty's nose would keep it from 64 or higher. If this is just on the holder, you may very well have a higher grade coin.

I can only go by the photos provided and in these photos the luster appears broken, in which case I would say the coin is AU-55.

I'd have to go with AU-58 , nice coin with some wear , still a great coin .

Very Nice coin. I believe that an AU-58 coin could be better looking than a MS-62. Buy what YOU think looks good. Personally I would have purchased this coin. Irreguardless of what some grading service may say.

Based on the photos I would say ms-62.

If it wasn't for the hairlines it would be a MS-63 for me. Because of the hairlines I have to agree with AU-58.
