Hey gang With the proliferation of the Chinese " replicas", I am seeing more and more of these on the bay not listed as such. What they are now doing, is " aging " the coins. Yesterday, a package of 50 !!!! 1909-SVDB replicas sold for $100, and when these coins ship, they are not stamped replica.....the " replica " is photoshopped in the " replica " auction listing, it is NOT on the coins. Get familiar with your favorite series, and the replicas appearing in that series. Study the " replicas" so you can spot them when they are listed as genuines !!!!! I have posted a pic of an added " S " 1909 on the bay, even with the poor pic, the added MM should jump out at you. Although not a chinese copy, an added S none the less. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160265755075&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006
Education is the key here. If you don't know what to look for you stand a greater chance of being taken by these thieves.
I cannot pinpoint this coin. Die cracks I have never seen, the reverse is similar.....still researching it.
Thinking 9's and 0 in the date are funny, couple letters in trust, spacing and alignment of america on Rev. S misshapen, but angle of b in vdb looks ok at first look w/o supersizing pic. Or am I just seeing things?
