Yeah, I think probably not also, but I personally really like this coin; prooflike reverse, less on the obverse, and the eagle looks like it's on fire.

I don't think it would star either.

    Nice Morgan but NO star

Edit: if the reverse is PL, it can technically qualify for the star. I can't see the PL qualities from the photo, so it's hard to judge.

I'm also at "Nice, but no star". I also think the star depends as much on the strength of the coffee drunk that morning by senor grader.

No Star. Not exceptional toning, or PL enough, or special that I can see. Also rather baggy (per normal at 63), but I don't think that comes into play. I do love me some old NGC fatty holders!

Too baggy doesn't come into play, but the other factors you mentioned do and would likely explain a lack of a star.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

    Nope. Nope. nope. nope...

The spots and spottiness and randomness and splotchiness..... just nope.

I'm not even convinced that is naturally toned, not to mention star worthy. I find that distinctly unattractive, and I and also think there is a very high chance it is questionably/artificially toned.

I find it interesting but would say NO STAR

The spots are distracting and it does look like someone poured something on it (chemicals and/or heat applied). I would also say it is QC but wouldn't be surprised if it did straight grade.

I knew this one would make for some good discussion.

Two call outs so far for AT. It did straight grade for the record.

I'm not super surprised as I've seen some of these get by (although it was more common with PCGS in the last years compared to NGC).
I will say that I don't find it unattractive. I did initially call it interesting and stick by that. I wouldn't mind owning it, but I wouldn't want to pay much of a toning premium for it (meaning I'd never win it in an auction setting).

From your posts I can tell you know much more than I do about Numismatics. I'm just curious where did you get the info about the "three basic categories for a star per NGC". I looked on NGC's website and found this: https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/7501/learn-grading-plus-and-star/
