Holy shi(p)! You know we all hate you, now, right? :D Big box of chocolates (I give my tellers Frango Mints...they love them). What wrappers did these come in (customer-wrapped?; if machine-rolled, old wrappers or new?), or were they loose?

I have my best luck looking for half dollars, by going through small towns and stopping at banks to ask if I can buy half dollars. About four years ago I hit the jackpot. They had $6000 of hand wrapped halves that had been sitting in their vault for years, I bought them on the spot with the only requirement that I would not bring them back to them. I found Franklins, Walkers, Kennedy's and one 1898O Barber. The oldest coin I have ever found in circulation. I cleared about $1000 profit at the bullion rate of four years ago. I wish I had sat on them, but that's hindsight. I took them to my bank, which didn't make them happy, but I didn't really care. They are still out there if you beat the backwoods banks. City banks are worthless as they get them from the Fed and I only occasionally find any silver.

The funny thing is, I was bringing a bag of mixed candies to them today because the rolls i picked up yesterday had this in it:

there were two 65s in some loose change she gave me to look through, then the roll had all the walkers, franklins and of the other 9 2 were 64s and 7 were %40.

Wow! Best advice I've heard yet, though, Vic (except for the part about taking them back :D). But what a story...

What's the bank and the names of these tellers--I'll be right there! :D

But seriously, were these customer-wrapped, or old machine-rolls? The machine-rolled these days are yellow--that's where you lay an egg.

they were all customer wrapped.. tan and brown striped rolls. the machine rolls have all been pretty terrible. maybe one %40.. nothing else

I'd never part with the bank name, I still go back there, though have never had the luck of the first time. Also, they were all hand rolled, the bank didn't have a roller for halves.Vic

    Nice finds, congrats.

Now for the discussion about some little old lady not having money for food and medicine since you got these rare coins!
    [Note: totally tongue in cheek.]
