Is the Morgan type silver rounds considered the same way? I’m not getting into the battle but just wondering.
I gotta say, I love Daniel Carr's original designs. He creates beautiful work. That being said, his "fantasy" pieces are trash IMO. I wish he would spend time creating new stuff instead of stamping a new date on an old coin. Yawn.
If they aren't an alteration/defacement of an existing coin done without fraudulent intent, then no, they aren't the same. If they're one-ounce silver rounds, they'd better not carry a dollar denomination, and/or they'd better say COPY.
A suggestion: both sides have throughly explained the two sides. Let’s avoid a long-winded debate such as the one that plagued this site a few years ago, led by a troll who fancied himself an attorney.
That’s exactly what I’m talking about. @Rushmore You’ve been a member here long enough for any sensible person to know you’re just trying to see what you can stir up.
I am exact opposite really. I think a lot of his original designs are not the best. Kind of cartoonish, amateurish, etc. His overstrikes are his best work, in my opinion, as they are very very close to original designs.
Fake fake fake fake counterfeit and garbage. Melt all the so called fantasy fakes and arrest for counterfeiting. Stick to the original designs I got no oven fakescof us coins I got a big problem
Haven't had one of these threads in awhile. Funny how CU argues about CAC and we argue about Carr pieces. Notice I said "pieces" not coins. What is the definition of a coin? I mean there is a government making Coke bottle caps as coins. Technically, Carr isn't making coins. Coins are made by governments. Tokens however can be made by anyone. Is it cointerfeiting if you're just making tokens? He isn't a counterfeiter. His intentions are not to decieve anyone. I think that is very clear. I mean isnt that the intention of a counterfeiter? To decieve? If he is a counterfeiter, he is the worst I have ever seen.
Things get compounded when you consider that his “tokens” are struck on genuine government-issue coins...
All of you who say he is breaking the law, go make your case. Show us all which laws he is breaking. I’ll wait. I will even help you out : https://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-i...rgn=div5&view=text&node=16:1.0.1.3.28&idno=16 https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?path=/prelim@title18/part1/chapter25&edition=prelim https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/part-I/chapter-25
I think he has been around long enough, with enough public exposure, to safely say no one is going after him. They would have done it by now, as he isn't exactly hiding anything he is doing. So, if those in charge are letting him be, that tells me all I need to know.
I'll bet there have been a hundred wars on this site on the topic. When everyone agreed to keep all the Carr post in one thread, all the wars stopped. It made this place a lot more friendly. We lost some cool members over these fights.
To be fair the anti carr people really tried to force it into one thread. There’s really nothing to argue about anyways and no one should get so mad they stop posting
Nobody’s mind is going to be changed over what is said in these threads. So why don’t we let it rest.
