I don't come across many coins, but at a gas station I got a 2005 nickel in change. It has half of Jefferson's ? face on one side, and a buffalo on the other. It has a D mint mark. It is in very good condition. Should I put this coin up for the future, or is it worthless as a collection?
Get back to you in a little on the first but the second: Select "User CP" on the menu bar then selct "Edit Avatar" and the rest should be self explanitory. You just have to decide what you want to have and you may have to resize it which you can do in MS Paint. Good Luck and Welcome...
If you have them I will take them! They are about the size of a Ike and 1/2 again as thick and made from Silver. I've been meaning to re-shoot that coin for months and your question prompted me to do it. The mirror surface makes it hard to get right. 1.5 million Lira from Turkey. Here is a better shot of both sides to this coin! I like ships so this coin fit my small collection nicely. Don't know what it's worth but then again don't care as I really like the coin.
Okay, first...that's the most beautiful coin I've seen so far !! I wonder who Kaptan Deyra was and what happened in 1533. The ships are beautiful sculptors, and even the wheat and olive branches are a nice touch. If I ever run across one, I just may have to invest. Congrats on your find!
Thank you Tight Wad but there are many here that have realllly incredible coins! Doug (GDJMSP) has had some gold coins that most would do anything just to even be near. Ben (bonedigger) has a ship coin from the Netherlands (1700's) that I would love to have in any condition! I could go on but just wait and you will see some coins the likes of which I have never imagined. It's a wonderful hobby with tons to learn! I really appreciate the compliment though and the coin is nice for sure! Best Regards Darryl
Slight correction there Darryl, Doug no longer owns any coins. But I certainly used to own some like you described
No correction needed - I did say "has had" - I only wish I see some coins like you have had or seen - in my lifetime...
Don't normally rely on these folks for reliable information but this does seem on the ball. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kapudan_Pasha
That is good because I am not sure if there is even an exchange rate for the old Turkiye Cumhuriyeti Lira which this is. Now, the New Turkish Lira has an exchange rate of 0.8297 per 1.00 dollar. That would be a nice hunk of change. About $1,244,555.0859 in US Dollars.
