I've started getting some of these in my change now. They are very cool...they all look great even individually.
I so want to see what the gold proof set of these looks like. I see none on ebay and we all know what official mint photos look like. Silver proof set has a mintage of only 10,000 for 2008 quite low for silver coins.
After I have collected all the coins up...you can all mark my words that I will offer them in a comp. I have thus far collected the 1p, 2p and 5p coin....i have not seen any others as of yet.
I Just need some 50 pences from circulation which I have yet to see...and I'll put up several of these sets in the comp forum. Any uk forumers seen any 50 pence pieces in their change?
I bought the Silver Proof set of these coins. Production was limited to 10,000. The coins are attractive but they look odd alone when you can only see a portion of the shield.
I don't know if I want to be a member of this group. Maybe I should sell my set so I'm not associated with you two. :goofer:
no one buys coins from funny little green men. throw it out of the space ship and joe will catch it anyway you are not in our league we are champions. we have this in proof, uncirculated, silver, and piedfort and i was also planning gold and platinum once you get all the sets apply with $10000 and we will consider your case for membership in our club
Finally...I found myself a 50 pence coin in circulation. i'll make a comp soon offering up all the coins pictured.
I got 3 from a self service till at ASDA lol...this was last week and they were the first I had seen. I work at a Sainsburys and get to see 1000s of coins every day...and have never seen one of the 50 pences there. We get entire bags however of 20p down.
I just had to get one...£50...but I've seen them sell for £288, but also as low as £40. I think its just really cool to have a british error coin when I see so many coming out of the usa I heard a rumour that only one batch of between 50k and 100k of these 20 pences were minted. I would easily guess that over 100m of the new 20 pences...as is usually the case with first years of issue. When the first 20 pence came out for example 700m+ were minted.
