Those coins were issued by the United States government with a face value of $0.50 each. I work at a bank, where we accept US currency for face value and nothing more. I simply exchanged her currency per her request. Just because I may have known that the coins she deposited were worth more than face value has nothing to do with her decisions. I never once encouraged her to do so, I said nothing to influence her decisions. I cannot offer her more than face value for those coins while I am serving in a bank. At the very least, that's a firing offense...and at the most a federal one.

Oh, and for your attack on my personal character. See, the other thread. You do not need to slander me in every thread you can.

Give the guy a break okay? He is young, and starting out in his career, and meant well. I sincerely believe he was caught up in the excitement of the moment and had no such desire to take advantage of anyone, just saw silver and lost all control.

Continually bashing him in the confines of this and any other thread doesn't opin him, but only yourself, caught up in this situation so much so that you cannot seem to cease commenting here and tither about it.

If you ask me, talking like that is at least as bad as what Richie did. There's no need to go around insulting the poor guy.

Ive read and read this post (all of them). Ive been a member since 2005.Ive learned alot here. I have not posted till recently. I must say " If this BASHING is what you people do? Then Im ready to unsubscribe." The guy was simply telling you what happned to him, thats all.period. He is not a bad guy.In our day and age your lucky if you go to 7-eleven and try to pay with a Barber quarter and the cashier tells you he cant accept thinking its fake. Thats OUR society today. Is it OUR JOB to educate EVERYONE.If this BASHING people is what this group is about ,then count me out. In the coin world EVERY BODY DOES IT FOR A GAIN.If not no one would.I say CONGRATS ON THE FINDS richie.ROCK ON BRO. Dont sweat the small s%%t.

Does anything change if the story had been "a bank customer" rather than specifying that it was an "old woman?" Leave aside financial need, gender and age that tug at the heartstrings. For me it doesn't. If you have the opportunity to let someone know what they have in their hands then take it. What comes around goes around.

Oh what the hell. I understand Richie turned down a vice-president's job with commensurate salary just so he could continue to be on the front lines when these coins and notes come in. :D!!!

No, you heard that wrong. He was up for the vice presidents job but the president of the bank found out that his aged mother( who has a cane and rheumatoid arthritis) had turned in some old rolls of walkers on RichieB's watch and man is he p@#$%$.

Hang in there Richie and thanks for a lively thread.
