Hello everybody just wanted to share a great find. Two foreign coins i didnt have and 1 was ((Silver))Sweet. Found them at my local grocery store and i always check the coin star reject tray...and 2day i didnt even have 2 look there. Right on top were 2 coins stacked on top of each other. I was like what the heck. Lol i actually looked around for a sec and nobody was around. So i took the coins and brought them home and wow a 1962 Canadian quarter and a 100 Won South Korea coin. Did my research and wow my first coin star silver. (The Canadian quarter) So always but always check those coin star trays and i even always check vending machines and i do get lucky. Thanks for stopping by and as always HappyHunting
View attachment 1060637 View attachment 1060638 View attachment 1060639 Great!.. There are two Coinstar machines near me that I check when I get the chance. Probably it is a first time user that doesn't understand the return bin function! Some of my recent finds..
Im telling you i love checking those machines so many of my foreign coins come from the coin star machines sweet finds paddyman
My supervisor at work texted me- (I work at a grocery store) and said "an old lady came in with a **** ton of old dimes" I went, and 35 Mercs and a 1897 barber were there for me. Next day, the Coinstar guy came and emptied it... I was sad until I found that those Coinstar coins get rolled and given right back to the store. Awesome!
Wow a german coin Sweet...i dont hv a german coin Awesome find should hv posted a pic id love 2 see it.
Keep looking, LuckyCoin! I've found one steel in my life- my dad always keeps his change so I look through it, I always take a magnet to pull foreigns out, and got it. Also, one of my 2 silver quarters. Whats your best find? I don't think I've ever seen you here.
Im somewhat new but post when i can...iv also found Saudi Arabia coins, Colombia coins, Japan coins and also from Nicaragua. Lol and now Canadian and South Korean.....i also do alot of coin roll hunting just recently found my first W quarter a "River of no return" in customer wrapped rolls.
Now, that's the first time I've heard this. It's hard to imagine CoinStar paying people to roll coins in the store, or track them and send them back to the store they came from. (And I would've sworn the last store manager I discussed it with said that CoinStar takes the bags away, but I could be wrong.)
Well, I’m back in AZ where there are Coin Star machines in two of the grocery stores we frequent. And my luck hasn’t changed: one Zincoln so far, sitting on top. Steve
Dont lose hope Steve...and be patient.... i kid you not....at lease twice iv found a lil under $2 in mix coins....just dont stop looking...thats why its called coin hunting and dont 4get vending machines...i get lucky with those also....Happy Hunting Steve and best of luck
Who knws...my nephew use to be a manager at walmart and said he would hv to be there when they came to empty the machine and was super friends with that person so he would let him hv a peak at the coins...some foriegn coins...do make it threw...so believe it...that guy would give him those coins....lol he def misses that part of job. He's studying to be a dentist now.
I have a few Old German States coins, not very valuable. A couple of members of Coin Talk have been very generous in giving me free coins. I'd like to "Pay it Forward". PM me your name and address and I'll send you one.
Nice gesture, @thomas mozzillo! @LuckyCoin: put your cursor on thomas' name: a box will pop up. On the fourth line down you'll see options which include "Start a conversation." Hit that. You'll see the page to PM him. On the bottom, check "Invite anyone...". Steve
I’ve wondered if some coin sorter/counter machines could be private owned. Like other vending machines.
