No, the rims and edges are wrong for a proof. The strike isn't strong enough for what I'd expect for a proof, either.
Thank you everyone for your input. The coin was posted online by a random person from the Philippines; most of the folks who post coins from there post counterfeits. When I first saw the coin, I thought genuine, but damaged. The more I looked at the coin and considered the circumstances, the more I doubted the coin was genuine.
That's exactly what I'm thinking. It looks like someone used a spatula to smooth chocolate icing on a cake. How can a coin that old be so smooth.....and not be in a certified slab?
It almost seems like the photos are doctored with redaction all over the coin. I played with an eraser varying from heavy to very light just to see what the app does on a coin. I'm not skilled enough to make it look like it's the real thing, nor would I ever attempt to cheat anyone, but I'm sure some unscrupulous people will.
The coin reminds me of a casted coin. There is slag around the rim that should not be there on a struck minted coin.
