In addition to these errors I have other RNR coins.

West Point, West Point slide error, triple roll mint set and first-batch 5oz RNR Silver piece...that one being ordered upon release and they sold out of the first batch before my buddy could check it out.

The die mess up is minor. The details and location are what count.

It is in the middle of the coin and can be detected without magnification assistance--at least I can (good vision helps)

The 'golden eagle' version is just about the to-scale size of a real full grown golden eagle in that very wilderness.

I think that it's neat. That's why I've dropped at least a hundred on these and plan on dropping another 200 for grading and slabbing when surplus funds are there. ;)

I recall another bird related variety. Hmm I think that it was called a "wounded eagle" sacagawea.

I hear that those are doing pretty well nowadays

All about that marketing hype. Get a cool name and there you go. Doesn’t matter if it is a minor error/variety or not.

We have leaking buckets, cats on roofs, lava flows on Ranier and now some random birds in a tree in Idaho that folks be squabbling over! :D

Funny thing, I thought that it was a rooster when I first saw it non magnified. Then figured golden eagle is both more topographically accurate, elevation-accurate, truer to scale, and sounds better. Plus my best specimen looks like a legit golden eagle, not a ground fowl.

Point indeed. And this coin had a cool name from the get-go. BEFORE the West Point coin search surge and buy up.

It's an a-OK planchet design to me!

If anything it's going to be considered a variety and only worth a buck or two tops.

Hey guys gotta go, but if you find some feel free to update the poll. And keep track.

    I have
    5 birds
    1 extra branch

And a few inbound as parcels in the mail. At last count total bird/branch error population was around 17 between the two ebay sellers and I.

I expect numbers to rise and stabilize.

Coins are still available from the mint

    We'll see.

I can also confirm that the Denver coins distributed at the Idaho Launch in November--or at least the rolls that I have recieved--are really nice. Like PL borderline special finish nice. You can actually see the planks on the boat before you go blind from the reflection.

Of my other graded MS68 and CAC MS68 ATB's these have got to fall in the PL/DMPL category. Beautiful stuff, but no golden eagle on the tree

I have to agree & similar to the "snow on the roof" & "popped kernels" in the corn stalks with the Homestead quarters. A catchy term invented and used for a sales pitch. I'm still at a die chip and that's why I asked Fred. Until Wexler or Potter could verify otherwise I'll stay where I'm at.

That's what I think as well and that's why I said it will be a variety worth a dollar or two.

    Greetings all,

Update on the RNR BITT Errors:

It appears that they are still uncommon and just as hard to find as the West Points, if not harder. The Golden Eagle Edition ones are quite regal and under magnification display such detail as to almost appear to have been an intentional die feature...

If it was a prototype design ...or someone's intentional doing... then I say nice job sneaking that one in. It is truely a coin to remember.

Hope that you all are staying safe and healthy.
