I saw a coin on Coinbug the other day slabbed by this Third Party Grader.

    http://www.trugradeservice.com/index.html

Contacted the seller and he led me to this site in a timely and polite manner.
Many of you know how quickly I will blast a TPG but not here to do that. I know nothing about these guys.

So.... has anyone seen their stuff? Opinions?

Never heard of them till now , 15 coin same day service by appointment , personalized non graded holders , American flag logos always seem wrong to me .

I have never heard of this grading service either. Find it hard to believe what they say and question how close the true grade will be.

I tend to agree with this. Seems that they are concentrating too much on things other than their grades.

I have a coin in a TruGrade Slab. I covered the grade they assigned it so you guys can try(from my lousy pics) to put a grade on it. It's a 1954 Jefferson. A little hint, I got this out of a bargain bin. I'll reveal their grade after a few guesses... John

    Real grade, perhaps AU.
    Tru-Grade: MS-70.

Yes, I have seen them, they are another self promoting slabber.

Thanks, I need grading practice on Jeffs!

Well, I hate to admit it, but I'm a -2 on a scale of 1-10, mainly because I just started collecting these, and er, uh haven't been very diligent in practicing grading, having been dependant on TPG's or Coin Talk "Pros" for the most part in the past. Whew! Gosh, I hated to admit that!

Anyway, I'm probably way off, but here goes: I'd say it's a MS60 to 63 with a weak strike; but for some reason, I imagine TruGrade gave it a MS64 to 66. Surely they didn't designate it FS....did they?

You guys are good.It doesn't have an FS designation but it has a pretty lofty MS 66 Realistically, IMHO it's an AU maybe MS60.Maybe. Sure ain't a 66. lol. So there you have it. That's my example. Anyone else ?

But just think you can have your picture on the slab:eek::hail:That alone must be worth the price of slabbing:yawn:

Watch what you say. I won an NES slab from eBay. They are in the same class as TruGrade. It was graded MS65 if I remember correctly or possibly MS66. I was not expecting anything resembling that, but what I got was a nice AU 1911-S Lincoln for less than $50
