Many of you know by now, I have a thing for Two Cent pieces.

So yesterday a type collection walks in. Some nice stuff when I hear my co-worker announce "Two Cent Alert, Two Cent Alert".

Common date. 1864 Large Motto so why did I buy it? Scans don't do it justice so I'll tell you.

Very even Red/Brown color. Fantastic strike. Crisp veins on the leaves, WE is sharp. Reverse has great detail in the ribbon and wreath. Shield lines are strong as well on the obverse.

This coin will most likely replace the one I have for that date in my number one set.

Interesting die crack to the left of the date as well. No distracting marks to be seen.

Think it actually has a good shot at MS64RB.

Had to share it with you all as I needed another one like another hole in the head but this one really spoke to me.

    Clembo;
I certainly hope that you alerted the seller that it was one really attractive coin that he was selling, and that you planned to give your boss a profit on it.

[just following up on the comments from another thread.
    Nothing personal, just sarcasm. ]

That said, I like that piece!

I've got a full date set of business strike 2-cent coins.
But definitely only one that might get close to as good as yours.
And mine's definitely a BR, not RB.

Nice clean coin that you got.
    Kudos.

I bought Flynn's book and was going to see how well I could do finding the varieties.
But there's too many other coins I want more.

Yes, I have Flynn's book as well and there are a TON of varieties.

I went overboard on Two Cent Pieces a long time ago. Been pretty good but had a relapse yesterday. Just too nice to pass up.

Very nice coin Clembo, Great addition. You know two cent coppers and three cent nickels are kind of like chips, you can't get just one. If one or two is good then many is better!

Since you've got a thing for 2 cent pieces, I couldn't see you not buying that coin. It's a beauty.
