Coin looks pretty clean yet not worth the new grading fees. Another vote for leaving it protected in its slab.
I'd crack it out and keep it as a raw coin. I'm sure you'd get about the same price as leaving it in that ridiculous slab.
Hey, it looks like a reusable slab (i.e. it's easy to pop it open, swap coins, and re-"seal" it). You could put in a custom label! It's a business-strike coin, so I'm thinking BS70...
Yes I have, years ago. Was never able to get one because they were too hard to find on ebay (This was back before the limited limiting certified coins to PCGS, NGC, ANACS and ICG) Doing a search for UNC turned up too many results. It is just a basement slabber though, treat and value it as a raw coin. It is NOT a true MS-70.
Unless it crosses to MS-70, it would be a waste of money to have it graded. MS-70 is the “holy grail” for these coins, and getting that grade is really hard. Part of it has to do with the fact that few, if any, coins are “perfect.” Second I am convinced that the grading companies keep the number (supply) of such graded coins down to support the market premium for them.
