Here are a few odd quarters with errors.

Are any of these Quarters damaged or are they error coins?

Can anyone help me place name of coin errors OR comment damaged coin to specific coin by number of coin #1 ...#2....exetara......

#1- 2000P Maryland


#2- 2009D Puerto Rico



#3- bicentennial 1776-1976D Quarter


#4- 2011D Gettysburg


..Any help greatly appreciated..

All I am seeing are damaged/circulated coins.

 

All of them are damaged by different means.

 

#1 is very odd looking like if it got struck trough but probably nothing.

#2 coin is in excellent shape like mint but gray in color possibly missing clad layer?


#3 looks possibly damaged or missing clad layer.

#4 is also gray in color but does show ware/use so probably just inviormental and use Damage .

??any more thoughts on quarters??

see on them all occurred well after they
were already in circulation.

And no..

Missing Clad layer usually just occurs on one side of a clad coin with a copper core. The copper would be apparent. Here are some examples from my collection. The labels states which side is missing..

 

None are missing the clad layer. If they were they would appear more copper looking. They are all Damaged after leaving the Mint.

 

The last three are just discolored which is not an error.

I thought the first just might have a chance of being a strike through, but when you look at the corresponding area on the reverse of the coin it is clear that the coin has been "mashed" in that spot which would not be the case for a strike through. So the obv is also post strike damage. Something has been pressed into the coin after it was struck.

 

all PMD and environmental damage. No errors that I can see.

All i know is if you want that same look all you have to do is clean your coins with mothers aluminum polish.they will shine like stars for about a month then pa pow thats what u get.ouch oh and im pretty sure the brown ones are just chochlate in the middle.

 

This coin has a side that is greenish gray like tarnished copper and a side that is normal. Is this missing clad? 1990

 

No. First of all it would weigh less.

If I had a single cent for every coin I thought was an error and it turned out not to be... I’d be a wealthy man. Just do what I did....

 

I beg to differ.i also have a quarter thats the same way.only one side and almost appears to be painted but isnt.i will try to find it and post.

 

Also ive seen many a common ailment so to say that tells me of some common origin and often a member just says what it isnt as opposed to what it mite be.even a prudent patient should seek a second opinion.in my opinion 1 is an opinion 2 could be coincedence but 3x and you better take a good look.
