So I haven't been posting much in here but still do between 1-3 boxes of halves a week. What's starting to kill it for me is the amount of marked up coins I get now. In particular all the coins I get with a huge "K' written all over the Obverse. Anyone else seeing these? Probably the whole Midwest is seeing these. Someone has been very, very busy with a Sharpie the last year or two.

So, 1/3 of the way through the big jar of coins from the thrift store, I scored 3 common wheats, a 2009-D nickel, and a handful of game tokens. Then this rolls out, a 1926-S! She’s scratched up, but still cool to find. Not really golden colored, but the artificial lighting was all I had tonight. My first Peace Dollar found in the wild.

Searched another quarter box today - no Ws. :spitoutdummy: But I did find 5 State error coins:
    1) Delaware - Spitting Horse (early die stage crack)
    2) Kansas - In God We Rust
    3) Nebraska - Leaky Bucket (thanks to @furryfrog02 for getting me interested in this one!)
    4) & 5) Arizona - Extra Cactus Leaf Over Initials
I have a Loomis Half Dollar box with an reverse slender that I may start on tonight. Tomorrow is about snagging that $573 partial half dollar bag, and then work on getting back up to 4 boxes of halves the rest of the week. Oh, and some major dumping, ugh!

Tonight as I was withdrawing cash to buy a used pickup I dropped off a coffee gift card to the teller who clued me in to which branch had the half dollar rolls I picked up before Christmas. If you recall, these were the rolls marked silver, and they were:smuggrin:

She said she would continue to watch for halves for me :)

The Loomis box with reverse Kender only had a total of 2 silvers:
    1 x 1964-D
    1 x 1969-D
The $573 partial half dollar bag grew to $601.50 by the time I bought it yesterday. Those tellers that sold me the bag (and the tellers at the main branch that walked them through the process of how to sell it to me) were rewarded with the wife’s homemade chocolate chip cookies. ;)
    The bag was okay, yielding:
    6 x 40%ers
    2 x 1974-D DDO
Interestingly, the bag was installed on the machine in October, 2018 or 15 months ago! And, I’m pretty sure I was the one who bought the previous bag.

I also picked up another box of quarters to continue my search for Ws. I checked for enders - none. I have yet to find a box full of 2019s. :banghead:

Tomorrow is another quail hunt with my best buddy Allie (Brittany Spaniel), a friend, and his German Shorthair Pointer. The rest of the week, I hope to pick up 4 half dollar boxes. HH everyone!

I hope you have better luck quail hunting than what I have had recently in roll hunting.

@TexAg must be nice to be retired! Someday I will get there, but meanwhile I'll keep living and loving life, and searching rolls :)

Got a bag of halves, just one 40%er, but it might be SMS or maybe polished. There were also a bunch from the 70s with a similar appearance to the '69, and one unusual one I'm not sure about. :)

Thanks @Tater. It was a good day just to be outdoors! We found 7 coveys of blue quail, the dogs did their job, and we didn't shoot so good, lol. But that's okay, it surely beat sitting at home. My little Allie had 2 nice points and 4 retrieves so I was very pleased. And as a bonus, on the way home I picked up $340 MWR halves from my bank in the neighboring town!

Just a guess on your oversized quarter. It looks like the process used to make a Texas Cent was used to enlarge the quarter. Maybe it happened when mashing the cent...but also mashed the quarter.

Finished ten rolls of quarters this week. Got one 2019-W San Antonio Missions and a 1969-D RDV-008 (proof reverse):

    1969D - RDV008 - Q.jpg 1969D - RDV008 - leaf.jpg 1969D - RDV008 - no serif.jpg 1969D - RDV008 - obv.jpg
Edit: No doubling in Q, leaf raises higher than arrows, and no serif on N in UNUM

In the throes of a 4 box skunk streak. Told the wife, "There's no more silver in the world!" The only comfort was finding a 1974-D DDO. I have some major dumping to do today . But, I will also pick up 2 boxes :). Hopefully, they will be good. HH everyone!

Last night I searched a sealed box of Loomis halves I picked up a few weeks ago. This type of box is rare in my area. Someone had opened it, and turned it in to a local WF branch, so I bought it. All rolls were properly crimped and accounted for.

No enders, and almost exactly half of the coins were marked by another searcher. I found nothing worth keeping. Oh well. A dumping I will go, A dumping I will go, Hi-hi the....
