Just bought a dream coin: A 1955 DDO Lincoln. No big deal.

Very nice acquisition! I'm a big fan of Lincolns that carry the BN designation with little to no actual brown...
I do remember one of my buddies asking me if I had found a '72 double die yet in 1972. (they were double dies when I was a kid) We were roll searchers pulling Wheats, Indians, Buffalos and an occasional V and even a few shield nickels.

It is nice, but it's a variety, not an error.

Great coin but you're about 35 (I met you at FUN) and if you realize all your life-time dreams at this age, what are you going to do when you're my age of 68?

I think I'd be doing you a big favor if I let you gift me this 55DDO so you'd have something left to live for.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

10 year old me had plenty of time to dream about a lifetime's worth of coins ;)

I appreciate the offer, but I'm not going to run out of dream coins any time soon!

(and, you nailed it - I'll turn 35 in July)

    Attractive coin, nice pickup!

Let's face it, the 1955 DDO is one of those "sexy" looking coins. I never understood people being interested in varieties you can only see with a microscope (except in the sense that we all have things we love to collect that would cause others to scratch their heads in bemusement). To me it's not a variety unless you can see it with your bare eyes, and the '55 DDO just POPS right out at you. I always enjoyed the variety and that's a nice looker, Jason.

That is absolutely my favorite kind of variety, and the only kind I'll buy.

The Franklin DDR that I discovered has that same "see it with your bare eyes" quality, and I think that's why I love it so much. Sure, I own several other "needs a 10x loupe" varieties, but these just don't mean as much to me.

I filled my dream of owning a 55 DDO in 1992. I was 35 at the time. One of the last coins I will ever sell.
