Not all coin capsules are created equally ? Question of brands Lighthouse / Airtite

    Hey all,
    I admit, I am not the sharpest tool in the shed so to speak.
    Now that is said I have buying my coin capsules here in the UK from Coingallery which is a website that you may or may not know.
    However as someone newly into the hobby and hasn't attended any coin events or fairs I figured that the capsules I was buying were Air tight. I knew there was a brand called Airtite but we dont seem to have easy purchase options to these in the UK.
    So I brought a bunch of (over 150) Capsules with Airtites (Which turned out to be lighthouse capsules with Airtite foam inners) now I'm stressing because I only use these on my Rare coins.
    Can anyone advise if these are still okay, good or otherwise........

    Both are safe, inert, etc.
    Neither are going to seal out airflow, etc.

    Good prices, good service . . . and a newly redesigned website that's a hot mess.

    Went to place an order this morning and the "menu" link was dead (not the first time). I eventually figured out a back door into the product listings, but they made me work for it. Navigating the checkout page was reminiscent of the Groundhog Day movie (how many times are you going to reset the page and send me a new verification code?).

    OK, rant over.

    Are lighthouse still considered airtight ? If longshot above suggests not then does it even matter on the brand ?

    There is no coin holder made by anyone that is airtight - not a single one !

    In terms of being airtight ? No, it doesn't matter at all because none of them are airtight. The deciding factors in choosing what brand of hard plastic coin holders one should use are a matter of aesthetics and cost.

    Beyond that, the thing that really matters is proper coin storage methods. Utilize proper storage methods and your coins will be protected as best they can be - no matter what hard plastic coin holder you use.

    To find out what those proper storage methods are simply do a search for "proper coin storage". There have been hundreds if not thousands of threads posted on the subject.

    How can a coin holder be 100% airtight? You open it, put the coin in and close it. There is no vacuum. There is no seal so air will always be there. Storage is the key to protection.
