Numista.com is a valuable site for world coin collectors (as most of you know). Having just purchased the Democratic Republic of the Congo aluminum 1965 "Lion" coin, I learned that there exists a variation, and that many of these coins were melted down. Here is my new coin: 10 Francs Note the word for "peace" - "PAIX" the small opening in the A means that this is a RC/1a. Explained below: This information is posted with the coin on the Numista website. The RC/1a is rarer. Most valuable also to me is the ability to print a list of ALL of the (my) world coins which I have on Numista. All 600 or so are listed in alphabetical order, per country with grade and value. It takes a little time to format the list, (use landscape orientation), but once done it is easy to add new acquisitions. Should I suddenly kick-the-bucket, my wife will then have a complete list which would help her sell, or donate etc.. Numista also provides much more information per each coin, for example: Best of all, Numista is free to use. www.numista.com Gary in Washington
Good information. I use Numista myself and have been able to help members here on CoinTalk with identification of their coins many times. Nice aluminum coin you have there!
Good morning, Paddyman98, I've been up all night, but you east coast fellas are just up and rarin to go! Gary in Washington
Yes it is the same variety. You have a vertical scratch to the right of the 10 F from a bit of aluminum oxide, mine has the same scratch, so our coins were probably minted pretty close together. Nice coin!! Gary in Washington
