So not saying this is a error or super super rare but 3 coin shops couldn't tell me anything about it today except to hold onto it and they will help me look into what it is exactly so maybe y'all can help with this one
#1 - It is just a worn die strike issue #2 - Not all coin shop owners know what some of the issues found on coins are.. meaning the difference between errors, worn die strikes and damage.
reverse does appear to be misaligned But we could be guessing all day long unless you tell us specifically what you are referring to. I'm going to guess you may be potentially asking about the poor condition of the Reverse. FYI, here it is properly oriented. I'm guessing this reverse die was at the end of it's life cycle. The striations below CHICKSAW identify bad deterioration.
Yes...die deterioration...all the edge areas affected would be the highest part of the edge of the reverse die...Spark
Understand there might be die deteriation but the words and letters look like trail die possibly grease filled trail die because if it was just deteriation the coin shop would have said that because he's been dealing with jewelry and coins his whole life
totally understandable. When I was a small time jeweler I really didn't understand coins. Dirty, imperfect things they were. Well, i was partially right. Why do Proofs look totally different from Circulated made coins ? Proofs are made 1 every 3+ seconds, where as Circulated coins are made 3 per second. Each proof coin is coddled. Circ coins all fall into a gigantic bag banging against each other starting life with bag marks. Proofs they replace the dies upon any imperfection and reject the bad coins. Circulated ... who cares, make as many possibly until it explodes. Well at least the coin shop confirmed the "MAD" too as that is totally glaringly obvious. When in doubt you can always pay to have it authenticated.
Here's an article re Trail Dies: https://www.traildies.com/ As others have said, your coin looks like it was struck with a worn die.
