@TypeCoin971793 after looking around a little more I guess I had no idea how rare it is. Even still I'm not entirely sure. I tried to find an image of another one and stumbled upon a forum where collectors were talking about hoping one day to see one but hadn't in over 30 years of collecting. I didn't end up finding any images of any in the end... Kind of surreal, definitely the most rare item I have and I didn't even know it.
Sure I’ve posted it before it’s every bit as good or better in hand too. Why I paid stupid moon money for a humble 63. It’s one of the few toned Morgan’s I have left. I’ve sold most of mine the last couple years
It would be easier to direct people to this thread on CU. The physics is pretty much the same, but I go into the mathematical derivations to get the above color progression. https://forums.collectors.com/discu...nding-of-the-color-progression-on-toned-coins If you think it is worth sharing the mathematics of thin film interference, then I can start my own thread. I have some improvements in mind. Maybe I will make an interactive tool for people to compare their coins to the progression based on the light they use.
No. It’s just over ten years old and is basically the standard reference for the physics of toning on coins. It’s not like I am contributing anything groundbreakingly new.
