That's a horrible mistake for a reputed TPG to make......
It would have been understandable if the legends and denomination were in foreign language; but the denomination is clearly written in English??
Anyway...I'm never a fan of slabbed coins and like my coins raw....

here you will see another one after a while it blows your mind there are tons where restrikes have been called originals proofs and what not untill recently they did not understand the difference between pl and proofs for indian coins. its not their fault ill admit the market is pretty unorganized but then they should stay away from it

I would say its a complete disrespect by NGC to handle Indian coins and take money from collectors just for the sake of slabbing and grading them. If they have no idea about foreign coins then they should be US only Graders.
Do they offer refund if somebody complains or they simply change the label and say sorry???

change the label and say sorry. grading indian coins is not a joke its a tough act half the languages in krause (language number section) are indian more than 12 different kind of scripts there is hardly any written documentation anywhere research is lacking they dont know what is wear and what is light strike they have no clue about more than half the die varieities if it cant be found in krause or pridmore you are SOL and the less we talk about non english coinage the better we will be. it seems i will have to write a book myself. just the other day i found a different variety of 1840 1/4th rupee 7 berries no lettering if i take that to a TPG they will send it back. many a times i have got coins back from both PCGS/NGC saying unlisted in Krause so we cant grade. TPG grading for indian coins is a joke just the the othe day i received some 64RD and 65RD from PCGS and fell off my chair if those are 64 and 65's then there should be a grade called 71 sorry to go on and on but i am really unhappy about the state of the coins from india and how parts of a heritage are being lost/destroyed everyday. the only reason i prefer PCGS is at least i dont see a lot of mislabeling on their holders and counterfeits in them :(

the main reason for this that the indian coin market here was not hot and hardly anyone submitted coins to any TPG we have seen a lot of activity in the last 2 years hopefully we will get a bunch of TPG's that are very strong in grading indian coins until that happens dont take the word of the TPG or the slab know your coins.

All please note the above rant is for coins from India only. I would love to get the service thatthe top tier TPG's provide for us coins even with all their shortcomings and flaws.

spock you really do need to get out more. Slab label errors are just as common, some would say more so, with PCGS as they are with NGC. They are just as meaningless with one company as they are with the other.

And yeah, PCGS has certainly been known to slab counterfeit coins. But those mistakes are quite rare for both NGC and PCGS.

Here's an example for you, and not on any foriegn coin either.

now you are talking. look at that i dont call that service. In any other industry it would be called poor QC and complete absence of TQM.
