OK, so my bank job yielded the best find I have made since I started working there. Today, a lady came in to deposit some coins...of which was one old paper roll of half dollars. I opened the end and I saw a Walking Liberty. So, I opened the other side and saw another. I set the roll aside for myself and later bought it...they were all Walkers!!! Most are from the 1940s and are all well circulated, but I got 20 Walking Liberties for $10. Although, some have smaller mintages! Here's a Date List 1935-S 1936-S 1938 1941 1942 5 1942-S 2 1943 2 1943-D 1943-S 1944 1945-D 1945-S 1946 1946-S
I did, I knew what was in the roll before she left. I know some people here will give me a lot of flack about not telling her...but they were her coins to do what she wishes with, and she cashed them in.
infraction 1 using caps infraction 2 using caps against friends infraction 3 making accusations infraction 4 accusing spock now where can we find that ban button
absolutely amazing! Nice find man.. I have a very strong feeling that is a truly unsearched roll of halfs!
I don't understand how the lady could have had the awareness to make a bank transaction, but not have the slightest clue about the coins she had? She obviously lived through the transition from silver to clad coins. And anyone today knows that the price of silver and gold have been increasing drastically. You don't need to collect coins to know that. On second thought, maybe she didn't actually check the roll. Even so, I can't believe it. I'm just amazed.
I chip in my 2¢, but it does not look like any one here wants to hear it. Have fun with your loot. I know it was not my mother, at least!
Dream job indeed for a coin collector...... I would have kept them as roll searching Trophy....Not everyday one can get all Walker roll.....
It's nice to think that she just needed a quick $10 and decided to cash in an old roll of halves she had laying around. It's also nice to think that she was fully aware of what she had and decided that it wasn't worth finding someone to pay her the $100 she could have gotten. The facts are likely something far different. She was probably totally ignorant about what she had. Taking advantage of her ignorance might just bring you karma you don't want to face (what goes around, comes around). Let's imagine she was a widow having a hard time making ends meet. She found this roll among her husband's effects and realized that she could use it to buy an additional $10 worth of groceries. Or, we could imagine that she decided that it would be nice to reward her bank teller with a surprise for his years of good service to her. Which of these scenarios is closest to the truth? At the very least, since the roll was opened before she left, she should have been made aware of what she had, to allow her to make a more informed decision on the disposal of the roll. I am far from a saint but I do know right from wrong and this was just plain wrong. You might want to read this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethic_of_reciprocity
