    Hi !

Would like to get your opinion on this 1971 Washington Quarter that looks like it was run over by a truck. Could it actually be a coin mint error. Kind of hard to imagine that something like this got through the inspection line.

    which is strangely impossible...

anyways, I'd keep this just for the heck of it!

You would think, but just look up "fold over" errors... and yikes!

it looks like some of my handy work on coins i find on the side of the road from walks and bike rides

alot of the coins i find got to have some TLC - a quick vise squeeze between 2 thick pieces of steel and a file job to take off the burrs then its ready to be spent

I kinda go along with the fold over process from MAG. This coin is not rough and actually has some shine to it, it just looks ugly.

Are stores still obligated to accept this as change?

Where I work i notice the cash register is filled with a lot of beat up coins...other store assistants will take them out their specific trays and set them aside as not to be given to customers.

Every place I go seems to try and hand the cruddy coins out asap lol, but some are pretty cool, I got one quarter that must have been sand blasted.

It is still legal tender and in theory still spendable, but the stores are not OBLIGATED to accept it.

nope, it doesnt have slash marks it in.
I would imagine it would look the same as if a lawnmower hit it, and I've seen coins hit by a lawnmower, they're not pretty. lol
