Coin Rings.

    I just came across something interesting in the book I am presently reading. It talks about how some of the men of the 101st Airborne kept themselves busy during their 44 day trip to England in Jan. of 1944 making coin rings out of Newfoundland half dollars. newfoundland.jpg

    Nice! I like coin rings and have watched several videos on how to make them. Unfortunately, I am too chicken to try it, lol.

    Most likely they were talking about making rings by "spooning" the edge of the coin and then drilling out the center.

    One of my local coin club members makes these and they are great conversation starters. He uses a hydraulic hole punch to make the hole, then a hydraulic press and a ring sizer. Never watched him do it, I only see the final result.
