This dime looks to be perfectly egg shaped, the complete edge band is in perfect structural condition. I don't think this was damaged after it left the mint and I can't find any information about it. I did notice how every that there are minted egg shape design coins but not sure if this is a business strike dime or a minted egg shape coin. Any help would be great. And that is the best I can do right now on the photos.
Does it look like something I should send in to PCGS to be authenticated. WP_20200116_11_47_44_Rich.jpg WP_20200116_11_45_54_Rich.jpg WP_20200116_11_45_16_Rich.jpg

There is no doubt that this is PMD. The reeds on the third side happens during the Striking process.

    No

I also say damaged after it left the mint. There is no way that could occur.

Could it be a minted egg designed coin? I seen several on line last.

Might have been a test run on something similar to an elongated rolling machine for a token of some sort.

An egg shaped coin would not fit into the coining chamber. It's totally PMD or Post Mint Damage.

This can easily be made by the novelty penny press machines that make pennies into an oval/egg shaped coin. Just too much pressure and made the faces flat. Or a rail road as mentioned above.

If it's not totally flat then it's from a penny press machine. A railroad would keep it flat I would think where as many penny press machines use 2 roller dies to flatten coinage which may give it an arc in shape.

We had a thread about those machines last year ??

Deliberately damaged. Coins are a favorite target of the terminally bored, it seems.
